This project to build a 9/11 commemoration bike started out as a brand display for U.S. Biker Law, the motorcycle division of The Nurick Law Group. Paul Teutul, Sr. called The Nurick Law Group to inform them that a build had opened up much earlier than anticipated. This meant a build previously scheduled was canceled, which put them the next in line. However, The Nurick Law Group discovered that the canceled build was actually for the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF). The organization sought to create a 10th Anniversary Memorial motorcycle as a tribute to the fallen heroes. They had to cancel the project since they could not raise the money because of legal battles and pensions.
The Nurick Law Group immediately decided to dedicate their new bike project to the IAFF. They believed that the IAFF deserved the thanks and credit for the freedoms and success of this country. The people at IAFF learned about The Nurick Law Group's decision and were instrumental in helping to design the bike. They did not want a bike with gimmicks that has been done before. They did not want a gimmicky bike to commemorate this sacred occasion. They wanted a rugged and stylish chopper, understated, but clearly powerful. The Nurick Law Group petitioned a massive amount of people to put the IAFF in the Discovery Channel episode of American Chopper, stating they would not build the bike unless the IAFF gained the exposure and attention they deserved.
The entire crew from Orange County Choppers went to work. They put together a bike that no one had ever seen before. The bike's gas tank is the only 3-piece functioning gas tank in the world, the top portion of which is suspended above the spine with hand-crafted bracketing. The bike's headlamp is a unique shape, employing the latest technology that includes lenses that switch when triggered. With the assistance of Orange County Choppers' incredible design team, Nurick Law Group and the IAFF heroes designed an incredible bike that exceeded their expectations. The Nurick Law Group plans to use the bike for charity purposes, including displaying the bike in honor of the heroic men and women that it was meant to commemorate.
The episode airing on the Discovery Channel will tell the story of the bike. Over the September 11, 2011 weekend, there was a three-day event held at Orange County Choppers in Newburgh, New York, the highlight being the unveil of this very special bike. The event was attended by nearly five thousand firefighters and bikers, some of whom rode from as far away as Washington State. The Nurick Law Group openly welcomes the invitation of military personnel, law enforcement and first responders who may be holding an event and would like to have the bike as a part of it. The goal is to honor the men and women of the IAFF and, of course, to commemorate the fallen heroes of 9/11. A portion of the revenues generated by the bike are routinely donated by Nurick Law Group to various charitable causes.
We, at US Biker Law, will always remember the brave men and women who risked their own lives to save others during the September 11 attacks.
